Seokmin Hong joined the company in February 2020 as Computer Enginner. He has been working on software based Computer Science and Physics during his academic career. In particular, Computer Graphics, Digital Image Processing, Computer Vision. On that basis, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Master’s degree in Computer Science, and a Ph.D. in Physics, respectively. From 2012 to 2014 he worked with the “Institute of Ambient Intelligence Laboratory: IAI lab” as a senior researcher, at Dongseo University, Busan, South Korea. Afterwards, from 2015 to 2020 he worked with the “3D Imaging and Display Laboratory: 3DDILab” as a pre-doctoral researcher, at the University of Valencia, Spain.
During his the pre-doctoral period in the 3DID lab, I have studied and researched on the methodology on how to compose an immersive 3D scene based on the computed point cloud and Integral-Imaging concept. Meanwhile, he studied on the depth map refinement algorithm, 3D data registration, and dense depth map computation by using stereo-hybrid depth-sensing cameras and stereo-plenoptic cameras setup, in order to compose dense 3D data and high-definition integral image generation. In particular, GPU acceleration (CUDA in the case of this research) assisted to boost the integral image computation time. Every research results are summarized in his doctoral thesis titled as “Fusion of computed point clouds and integral-imaging concepts for full-parallax 3D display”, which was defended in January 21st 2020. This thesis has been awarded with the maximum qualification of “Sobresaliente Cum Laude”.
