Great news for Doitplenoptic and all microscopists around the world who need 3D images of their microscopic samples. Last quarter, our lead investor and co-founder BeAble Capital has completed the early-stage investment in Doitplenoptic, with a follow-on round of €250K. That makes a total of €750K (€120K seed and €630K early-stage).
Following their strategy on Science Equity, the VC sees the huge potential of technology transfer from the Universities and Research Centers (as in our case) to transform science and knowledge into products and solutions that address market needs and in return obtain great benefits to society and investors.
In our case, this follow-on round is helping us with the launch activities of our MVP and to demonstrate the product-market fit during 2021. Besides, it will allow prepare and open a series A investment round of around €1M that we expect to close by the beginning of 2022.
Doitplenoptic is Science Equity Investment
We at Doitplenoptic, aim to democratize the scientific and technical use of lightfield technology with affordable and high 3D/4D performance products. Our goal is to make this sophisticated image technology accessible to society by providing SMART solutions for clinical, biological, and industrial applications.
One of the most critical challenges that technological development faces is to obtain 3D/4D information of microscopic samples. This is the reason why our efforts are focused on 3D/4D microscopy in the first place. After many years of research in the 3D & Display Lab of the University of Valencia, our founders had the genius idea of replacing the observer’s eye with a plenoptic camera to transform any microscope into a 3D / 4D microscope. That allows any technician or researcher to obtain real-time 3D information in a very easy and convenient way.
